Bank South Pacific (BSP) opens dedicated Card Centre in the National Capital District (NCD) to accelerate the migration from magnetic-stripe cards to new Proprietary Chip Cards (PCC), as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen customer security including card cloning incidents.
The new facility which opened today, Monday, 9th March 2026 at Stop & Shop Waigani Central, has been set up to accelerate the card replacement program and provide customers with a more efficient way to transition to the safer chip-enabled cards.

The Card Center will operate during normal branch operating hours and will be supported by a fully-fledged dedicated team to assist customers with card replacements.
The national rollout of Chip Cards has seen a strong response from customers who have been visiting branches to replace their magnetic stripe card, particularly within NCD. The rapid transition marks a large shift to new card technology and the security benefits that Chip Cards offer.

The Card Centre will focus exclusively on card replacement services to help streamline the replacement process for customers.
BSP Retail Bank, Head of Retail Modernisation & Network Strategy, Tyrion Niddrie said the new facility will play an important role in ensuring customers in the NCD can transition smoothly to the more secure cards.

“The opening of the Card Centre enables us to support customers more efficiently during this important transition. The move to Proprietary Chip Cards enhances protection against card cloning and fraud, while strengthening the overall security of our payment systems,” Mr. Niddrie said.
To further improve customer access and convenience, additional Card Centers will be established in Mount Hagen and Lae within the coming months allowing more customers to easily upgrade to new cards and continue enjoying secure banking servic
Customers requiring new card applications are advised to continue visiting their respective BSP branches in NCD. These services will gradually transition over a two-week period as part of the rollout.
